10 degree below zero sort of socks. I finished these socks last Sunday, right at the start of our cold snap (I think we're out of it now, as it's currently almost a whole ten degrees Fahrenheit). These are plain ol' toe-up socks made from Trekking XXL, color 101. At first I thought the color was nicer in the ball than on a sock, but I'm coming around. There may be enough left over for a pair of baby socks, too.

Speaking of baby, I am starting to show, and lamenting that I probably cannot knit things for myself for the summer (not that I ever do, but I always want to). A WEBS catalog came to me recently, and I am particularly taken with the surplice lace top on page 21 and Beaujolais by Berocco. And also speaking of baby, congratulations to Bertha and Matt on the arrival of little June! (Holy cow - one of those is going to pop out of me in 4 1/2 months.)
Whoa! I just had quite the scare. My domain name almost expired. For some reason, I was compelled to do a whois to check on my renewal date, and lo and behold - it was tomorrow.
Today I purchased needles to get started on the baby's blanket (another case of having the needles already, but in use on other projects) and managed to avoid buying a ball of super-funky Online Supersock. I was proud of myself at the time, but now I regret it.
I am reasonably sure I'll run out of black Malabrigo for the robot scarf. This is due in no small part to Sophie's obsession with the black yarn. Every time it's left unattended for even a fraction of a second, she puts it in her drooly mouth and chomps away. I didn't think I lost too much yarn to her wool-eating tendencies, but there's significantly more grey, which she, for some reason, does not touch.
Tomorrow is my day to sit around and be domestic. I plan to cook (chicken soup), bake (chocolate chip cookies), and, of course, knit (the blanket, finally).
