Michelle inspired me. She posted the scarf she made from this pattern and when I saw it, I immediately took up my needles and some of the angora blend yarn I rescued from a thrift store sweater.
And so I am now wearing this:
This might be my favorite thing to knit ever.

It's been one knitting disaster after another.
First of all, I've absolutely no inspiration. I'm totally inspirationless. Even a trip to a yarn store encites nothing but, "Eh."s and "I like it, but I certainly can't *afford* that...", and price, to me, increases the inspiration level of a piece by multiplefold. Having no inspiration makes me totally unwilling to knit anything, let alone the boring projects I have sitting on my needles. They're all for other people, which makes things worse. I'd like to do more knitting for me, yet my generousity (or desire to be loved?) tends to keep getting in the way of that.
Secondly, I cannot find my Fall 2003 Interweave Knits. I was all set to work on the Colorwork Hat and Mittens that I started in November. "Fairisle!" I said. "That'll keep me occupied!" Ha. It would, if I could find the pattern.
Thirdly, an employee at my favorite yarn store (which will hopefully not become my NOT favorite yarn store) seriously, royally pissed me off today. On Friday I stopped in (which is no longer easy for me, as I lack a car and must rely upon the bus) and purchased two circular needles, a pair of DPNs, some stitch markers. Upon arriving home, all set to work on a sweater from The Best of Lopi that I've been itching to work on for ages, I discovered that my 29 inch size 6 needle was, actually, a 24 inch size 8. Boyyyy, was I pissed. Even more pissed was I when I returned to the store tonight and they would not take my needle back. What did she think I did? Take a needle I didn't need anymore and shove it in some random package and attempt to get cash for it? Why in the world would I do that? Wouldn't they, I don't know, check to see if it's the same needle? But, no, some people abuse the system, so that must mean *everyone* does. Nevermind that I have spent *hundreds* of dollars in there since I started knitting and the employees know me, for crying out loud. I'm still a hooligan. You'd think that I'd be smarter than to try to screw them over on a friggin' Clover Bamboo. What would it cost them to replace their mistake? It'd certainly cost a lot less than losing a long-time customer. My friend, gratefully, will be calling on my behalf tomorrow and speaking with the owner (who, when one of us comes in without the other, asks where the other is).
Fourth, nothing I'm trying is working out. Gauge is off, yarn is crappy and uncomfortable, I realize that I will never, ever wear Mikado Ribbon Fingerless Gloves, etc.
I'm reaaaaally not happy about all this. Grr.
Help inspire me! If you've seen anything particularily fascinating lately, point me to it! :)
(One thing I'm going to do is spin some fiber I have. That'll help me, I think.)

Greetings, knitdarlings!
I'm alive and moved into my apartment; there are still kinks that need to be worked out (like where do I find bookshelves that aren't ugly as sin?), but I've at least got dialup now.
Knitting hasn't been going well. I'm in a rut. I have a bunch of projects on the needles and FIVE of those are for other people*, and I'm bored of them. I'd like to knit for me, but I've no idea where to start and suspect I'd get bored right away anyway. I don't like knitting ruts, because I hate to think I could ever stop loving knitting. We're just having some issues with our relationship, apparently.
In the meantime, I've been reading a lot, started a new semester of school, working more hours, going out almost every single night. Things are good.
Things are digital camera-less, however. What's a knitting blog without pictures? I will try my best to round something up, someday. In the meantime, I should concentrate on making things to take pictures of.
My Christmas knitting was a success! My future-ex-sister-in-law loved the Pussy Galore scarf (though she just thought it was leaves...) and my aunts loved their scarves. Interestingly, each scarf coordinated exactly with the outfits they wore Christmas Eve. One of my aunts has requested another scarf for a friend, and my uncle who owns a Ben Franklin is interested in having me knit samples for the store.
Our Knitting Night has moved to a new location:
2nd Moon Coffee Cafe
23rd and Franklin Avenues
Minneapolis, Minnesota
7pm - ?? (usually 9:30 or 10)
**all skill levels welcome**
Happy knitting to you all!
*Working on:
- Jack's enormous socks (on the decreases of the FIRST one. My boyfriend has enormous feet (yes, he's my boyfriend now!))
- a black furry non-bucket-o-sheet bucket hat that I'm being paid for (whee!)
- my best friend's Christmas present, STILL (almost done!)
- cute red mittens for Jack's friend who has tiny hands like me
- another diagonal scarf out of Fusion for my aunt
