*tap, tap* Is this thing on? Oh, hi! I didn't expect to see you here. It's been, what?, three weeks? Yes, I'm alive. No, I haven't quit knitting. (I was briefly tempted to after having Sophie eat more yarn and realizing that I never, ever have time to knit... ever.) In fact, I've even finished something.

There you have it, folks - the Viennese Lace Shrug from the Summer '05 Interweave Knits. I used four skeins of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece (which I both love and hate). I have no idea what my gauge is, because I'm pretty sure I never measured. This is evident in the extraordinarly length across the back of this thing. I should block it, but I'm afraid of the new lengths it may achieve (but maybe I could throw it in the dryer and see what happens). It may be big, but it's comfortable and warm.

I've reached a milestone with the Crichton cardigan - one whole repeat finished. Only one million to go! I'm going to lose the race against Becki, I'm sure. Darn those small girls and their smaller-sized knitting! Hers might be prettier than mine, too. If nothing else, it makes me wish I would've considered picking my own colors. How many purple sweaters do I need?
I started my Sockapaloooza sock for the millionth time last night, and I can't say I'm pleased. I'm tempted to just whip out a sock of some sort and be done with it, because I'm not satisified with anything else. This sock isn't entirely bad, but I'm worried I'll run out of yarn (particuarly because Sophie ate a chunk of it). I should probably keep going and see where it takes me; after all, they're supposed to be ankle socks. I had no idea how difficult it was to NOT make lace socks.
This weekend I'll have two days off, and I vow to drag out my spinning wheel and work some magic. Shepherd's Harvest is coming up (Bobby, you should come up here for it!!), and Yarnover is a month before that, and I need some new fiber. It only seems logical to use up some of the stuff I already have first. And, er, to finish my wheel.

(Near) perfection Sometimes it feels like my knitting-fu is as strong as it can possibly be. Witness this creation, a combination of Misti Alpaca sportweight, a cute chart, and my brain skills:

Alas, they are not for me, but for a coworker with the same chronic hand-chill problem that I have. A small percentage of my being hopes she hates it so I can keep the finished pair (but then, I'd also have to question the very core of her being, because who can resist that?).
The bulk of my weekend knitting time was spent on that gorgeous specimen of knitting awesomness, but I put in a few rows on Crichton.

This photo, remarkably true to color, illustrates the much-improved color transitions. I'm almost done with one repeat. "Uff da," as my ancestors would say.
I took out my retro rib sock for a photo op. After knitting with alpaca for two days, it felt like steel wool.

In a feat of remarkable restraint, I resisted the purchase of four-or-five balls of Silk Garden Lite (in color 2015, which is much more breathtaking in person) while at the Amazing Threads sale this weekend. I'd love to knit a summery lace top, but my hands said, as they carried the balls around, "Um, we're hot. So that's maybe not the best plan." Nor did I purchase any other yarn, although I did pick up Stitch 'n Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker. I am in love with the cowboy hat and the sock monkey baby stuff (it made me want to pop out a kid on the spot) and various other things. Maybe someday I will have time to actually crochet something.

Let's recap. Turkish sock: definitely too big for my sock pal, perfect size for me, so I'm going to have to continue with this one and buyst have to
Crichton cardigan: clover color is working, though I haven't made much progress and it adamantly refuses to be photographed properly. Almost two hours was spent fixing a really ridiculous series of mistakes in one little section. Let's make that "sort of fixing" because it's not quite perfect; the tension isn't good, but I hope blocking will help a little. If not, I'll just have to live with it, won't I? There's no way in h-e-doublehockeysticks I'm ripping out these few rows for that small bit that isn't exactly perfct.
Fingerless gloves: I've got the yarn, but no progress, except for determining that the middle bit will be argyle. Everyone loves a good argyle.
Retro rib sock: the thing I'm liking the least is showing the most progress. Since it's been my travel knitting, I get a half inch in on each bus ride, and I'm currently turning the heel. But, man, is it boring (and a little ugly).
