Manly Lace Scarf

This is a seaman's scarf - the middle uses ribbing to provide a close fit to the back of the neck and the two lace panels are worn crossed on the chest.

2 skeins Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted (shown in Christmas Green)
size 8 needles
size 6 needles

Cast on 29 stitches.
Row 1: Purl
Row 2: k1, *(yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k3)* to last for stitches, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k1
Row 3: Purl
Repeat the last two rows three times more.
Row 9: k4, *(yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k3)* to last stitch, k1
Row 10: Purl
Repeat the last two rows three times more.
Repeat these 16 rows until piece measures 12 inches (or desired length)
Switching to size 6 needles, increase one stitch at the beginning of the next row. Work in k2p2 ribbing until the ribbed section measures 12 inches (or enough to fit around the neck in question).
Switch back to size 8 needles and repeat the lace pattern.
Bind off and block.
